Maths Tuition
Does your child need extra maths help and tuition? Are they struggling at school or perhaps they are frustrated and need enrichment?
We can help your child improve their mathematical skills in line with the National Curriculum.
The core subject of Mathematics is a compulsory part of the National Curriculum from KS1 to KS4 (GCSE). Understanding number and mathematical logic is something all children must grasp if they wish to pass the 11 plus exam, their final secondary exams and succeed much later in life.
Knowledge of mathematics is also an intrinsic part of daily life.
From division, multiplication and fractions to algebra, trigonometry and cumulative frequency, our assessments identify and point out what a child needs further work on.
Maths Help
Our assessments are planned and administered depending on the age and current Key Stage level of the child. For children KS1 and KS2 these assessments are made up of a series of tests design to measure the degree of mathematical use and understanding. For KS3 (Year 7-9) and KS4 (Years 10-11 GCSE) we have past SAT’s and GCSE Mathematics papers that we use to evaluate children. Based on the results that we get from these assessments we them write a personalised action plan for each child, covering areas that need revision and practice to help them achieve a higher degree of understanding and application.
Children between the ages of 5 and 11 cover basic numeracy, which includes times tables, fractions, approximation, rounding up and reading graphs. We also assign regular mental arithmetic exercises every lesson for those children that need it. For students that are Keystage 3 or GCSE level, we produce personalised maths programmes for each student to work from.
For children preparing to take the 11 Plus exam, our mathematic programmes cover mathematical elements up to Keystage 2. Mental arithmetic is a compulsory part of the programme and Nonverbal Reasoning (which is included as a part of mathematics) is also included if it is to be taken for their examination.
