Grammar Schools

Grammar Schools are under attack once again.(Nicola Woolcock in the Times.)

Mr Balls is reported saying:  “Let me make it clear that I don’t like selection. We don’t support new grammar schools.”

His remarks are sure to reopen the debate. Mr Balls is coconcerned that children who do not reach a grammar school may feel that they are failures.


Kent Test Dates!

The Kent Test dates have been released by the admissions office of the Kent County Council. Children will sit their exams on the 18th and 19th of September. Registration for the Kent 11 Plus starts on the 2nd of June and closes on the 11th of July. The mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non Verbal Reasoning has stayed the same.

Gravesend Student going for Gold!

Kate French from Meopham is hoping to put Gravesend on the map by competing in the 2012 Olympics. Her chosen tournament will be the Modern Pentathlon which comprises of Swimming, Cross-country running, Shooting, Riding and Fencing.

Gravesend Celebrates Sikh Festival Vaisakhi

Gravesend Town Centre saw thousands of people gather to watch the colourful celebrations of the Sikh festival 'Vaisaikhi'. Yet again, there was a long parade that stretched from Clarence Place and past the Clock Tower. 


Fun at the 'Kent School Games'!

Kent County Council are staging their own version of the famous Olympic games - 14 different sports will be available for children to compete in from ages 7-15.

The swimming will be held at the Cygnet Leisure Centre on April 26th. Many different schools will be competing and we hope you will join in the fun too!
