Kate French from Meopham is hoping to put Gravesend on the map by competing in the 2012 Olympics. Her chosen tournament will be the Modern Pentathlon which comprises of Swimming, Cross-country running, Shooting, Riding and Fencing.

Kent County Council are staging their own version of the famous Olympic games - 14 different sports will be available for children to compete in from ages 7-15.

The swimming will be held at the Cygnet Leisure Centre on April 26th. Many different schools will be competing and we hope you will join in the fun too!

There is some exciting news for three schools in the Gravesend area that are being rebuilt in the next three years. St. John's RC Comprehensive school, Northfleet Technology College and Northfleet School for Girls is undergoing a major revamp courtesy of the Government.

These are pictures of what these well-known schools will look like in the future. 

Girls at the independent school in Cobham Hall have begun the first in a series of events aimed at getting to know other cultures from around the world. A festival was held, inviting students from China and Azerbaijcan!
