How the ETC Method Works
Using Etc Personalised Lesson Plans
Each pupil gets a print out of their personalised lesson plan in readiness to start work. A typical lesson plan is shown below.

The top of the plan contains information about the pupil, their learning aims and the strategies being used. The learning aims can be associated with both mathematics and English or just one of the subjects.
The main body of the plan sets out the different lesson elements that the pupil will cover during the lesson. The elements are built up from a database of over 10,000 exercises drawn from popular text books and internet resources. The lesson elements are about 10 to 12 minutes in duration, and so allow a range of different topics to be covered in a single lesson. Each topic is identified by the relevant area of the National Curriculum, a title for the piece of work and which resource is to be used.
The form is also used to feedback about the work. The performance in each lesson element is evaluated by both the tutor and the pupil, this is done by simply marking the evaluation table with an X. This evaluation influences the design of the next lesson.
Finally, in the comments section there is space to include further information about the lessons. For example, the tutor may wish to make notes about specific topics for the next lesson.
The feedback information recorded on the plans is used to update the pupils records and design the next lesson. This is done through a web browser page on computer connected to a secure website.
