Personalised Learning and Continuous Assessments
Personalised Learning For Your School
Every teacher faces the challenge of balancing the needs of the whole class and providing extra support to a small number of pupils who are not progressing as expected. Etc's Personalised Learning Method provides schools with an effective approach to targetted support for specific pupils or small groups that are not achieving their expected rates of progress. By introducing an individualised learning plan to strengthen their performance in the core subjects of mathematics and English, the Etc Method can help schools get progress back on track.
To personalise lessons for a child it is important that:
- The child's requirements influence the lesson design
- The child learns a range of skills and methodologies to solve problems
- Lessons are at the correct level and may contain a mixture of foundation and enrichment work
- The teacher's own professional expertise is used
- Teachers have a range of learning resources available
- Teachers can share ideas with other teachers and learning professionals
The Etc Method has been used for over 30 years across Kent and South East London within Extra Tuition Centres. The service is popular with parents who want to provide that extra bit of help to ensure that their children are making good progress at school.
Using the Etc approach in your school to support a pupil's progress is straight-forward because it is based upon the National Curriculum and commonly used learning resources. The pupils work within small groups under the guidance of a teacher and are assisted by LSAs. The lesson plans are designed so that they can also be used within normal class groups, but provide differentiated work for the individual pupil that focuses on making progress and building confidence.
Etc lesson plans are built automatically using individually selected exercises from popular textbooks and internet resources by Etc's bespoke computer software programme EtcACTION. The lesson planning tools within EtcACTION can be accessed by teachers through a secure internet website. EtcACTION also automatically generates visual progress reports which can be shared with the pupil's parents and other teachers via the secure website.
