FAQ's About 11 Plus Courses
• I would like to book more than one course. Which ETC centres offer this and when?
Our Gravesend and Bexley Centre’s are the only ones that offer five courses. These are available to book only over the Summer holidays.
• You have five courses on offer over the Summer holidays? Why is this?
We understand that most families go away on holiday during the summer. We offer five course weeks so parents can book the one’s that suit them most.
• Can I mix courses up? e.g. book courses 1, 2 and 5?
Yes. You can state which courses you would like your child to attend. Again, you must confirm with head office exactly what it is you want.
• My child has had a lot of practice on eleven plus papers and is quite experienced and familiar with the material. I would like her to sit Course 5 on the first week of the holidays. Is this possible?
Of course. We understand that some parents would like their children to do the practice papers in order to work on timing. If this is so, then you must state when you book online or over the telephone which course it is that you would like. The same goes for any other courses that you would like to book which you would like to do on a different week.
• I would like to book Course 4 but the description states ‘Taken once course 1, 2 and 3 are complete’. Do I need to book the previous courses in order for my child to attend the fourth one?
No. You can book any course. We understand that people do go away during the summer, and you can book any course week. If for instance you book the course taking place on the fourth week of the holidays, then your child will be given a Course 1 content unless you specifically state it is the Course 4 content that you want.
• On course 1 there are 30 key topics in mathematics, yet on course 4 there are 40 topics. Are the 10 extra ones totally new topics?
Course one mathematics content help children cover a range of topics that could come up in the examination. It covers methods of revision and sections on how to approach examination questions. Course 4 concentrates on examination type questions. Some mathematics topics are the same as those on course 1 but with a very different emphasis. Course 4 does not introduce new topics, but rather looks at the initial 30 topics in more detail.
