Different Faces

As part of the Etc, we see a number of children of different abilities and personalities passing through our doors. It is important that a child realises that being “clever” isn’t the most important thing. Some children feel incredibly pressurised, especially at this time of year, when the eleven plus is firmly in everybody’s mind. It is easy for them to see their friends who are passing the eleven plus examinations, while they are finding schoolwork difficult.
Not everybody is meant to go to grammar school or university. It is the differences that we have which make the world an interesting place! Being intelligent doesn’t necessarily make a child enjoyable to teach. It is the children who try their best and who work with a smile that make our work worthwhile.
