General Information
Three schools in the area use the local 11 plus which consists of a Maths, Non Verbal and Verbal Reasoning. All three papers are multiple choice. The exams are taken in early September. The Altrincham schools have their own tests which are listed under the schools below. 
 
Manchester's Grammar Schools and Tests

Altrincham Grammar School for Girls
Both Altrincham Grammar Schools have their own individual tests. Children here take Maths, Nonverbal and Verbal Reasoning papers. All these are multiple choice. In addition to this, the children will write a short story, but this will only be marked if the other scores are below the qualifying standard.

St Ambrose College
This school tests vary from year to year. This year's test is taking place in late September. The tests consist of a Maths paper, English, Verbal Reasoning and a creative writing piece. Again the tests change from year to year from a standard version to multiple choice.

Stretford Grammar School, Urmston Grammar School, Sale Grammar School
These three schools use the local 11+ for the childrens admission. The exams take place early September and consist of a Maths, Verbal and Non Verbal Reasoning paper. All three are multiple choice.
