Children may start their lessons at any time during the school year.
As each 11 Plus entry course differs slightly we need to know which schools you are interested in your child going to so we can provide accurate lessons.
Lesson Content
The lesson course comes in two parts; first an assessment is taken by the child and with that information a course of lessons is prepared to target the areas needed for improvement or enhancement.
Assessment
Time: Approximately 2 hours
Following the test parent have an informal talk with the assessor to explain the results, after which a written report is produced.
The assessment comes in the form of either multiple choice or long answer questions depending on the particular format of the tests your child is taking.
The assessment will cover;
Mathematics
Verbal Reasoning or Reasoning – a mixture of verbal and nonverbal
English written (long answer comprehension if necessary)
Lessons
Time: from 1 hour per week
The results of the assessment are fed into our computer system. A bespoke course is produced for your child. e.g. If he or she is very good at verbal reasoning but poor at mathematics then he or she may work for ½ hour on his or her mathematics and ½ hour on verbal reasoning.
All the work is timed. Work on 'examination technique' and 'how to study' is also part of the course.
