Course 1 Content
A confidence builder course
Each child attending will complete course 1.
Mathematics
Every day, children have to sit a short maths test which identifies the topics they need to work on. Each child then works at his or her own pace completing revision questions.
English
Children will work on a combination of comprehension, punctuation, vocabulary and creative writing skills including planning, content and paragraphing depending on the exams they are facing. We also work on improving concentration and coping with difficult questions.
For practice, Verbal and Nonverbal Reasoning exercises are given.
Exam Technique
To prepare effectively for the 11+ exams, we talk to children and parents about how best to study and what topics to concentrate on. We encourage parents to help their children prepare a study schedule.
Course 2 Content
A
revision course
Mathematics
This course covers 40 key mathematics topics. The children are expected to recall the notes they previously learnt about the topics and complete examples. There is an extension section for those children who work quickly. We expect the children to spend roughly 7 minutes per topic.
English
Course 2 covers 40 mathematics topics but children will be expected to remember what they have previously learnt and complete exercises. Each child spends approximately seven minutes per topic and an extension section is available for those who work quickly.
Exam Technique
As with all our courses, we spend time talking to both parents and children about preparing for the 11+examination; how best to revise etc.
